All over the country, we are seeing cities and states waking up to the high costs of incarcerating our children, youth and adults for nonviolent crimes. Right here in Little Rock, some of the key players in sentencing reform, restorative justice, prisoner and family advocacy, and reentry are gathering together to discuss municipal-level
solutions to mass incarceration. We will see conferences put on by ADC Volunteer Outreach, the Racial Disparities in the Criminal Justice System Research Team, the Safe Schools Conference, and others, dedicated to finding safe, fiscally responsible, community-based solutions to a bloated jail and prison problem.
Compassion Works for All is part of the dialogue with city officials to find healing and transformation for the people in prison, and for the prison system itself. We have a seat at the table, but we know that so many people have some intersection with the criminal justice system, and we want feedback and your insights.
LET US KNOW what you think are the 1. challenges and 2. solutions to the criminal justice system in Little Rock, in Arkansas, and in the country. Comment or email us your ideas, so that we can share your ideas with leaders who are ready to take action.
