10% of the prison population is in private prisons: CCA - GEO Group - Cornell Companies
-Table of Contents-
For the last 30 years the State and Federal Governments have basically been using human beings as a commodity towards building their economic institutions and security inside communities that have been deprived of any meaningful economic development, a clear incompetence by the corporate and governmental body of this country, which has instead chosen to use mass incarceration as a vehicle to fuel race/class based practices in order to marginalize over 2.5 million people inside the prison industrial slave complex, and to disenfranchise millions more oppressed citizens of this country.
We aim to launch a National Campaign to End Mass Incarceration and insist that law makers institute Laws and Policies that will be consistent in affording each and every Amerikan/New Afrikan inside the united states of Amerika their civil & human rights. We are going to work unit the race & class based inequalities and new types of segregation cease to exist. Amerika is a polarized nation, with a government that is predicated on an ideology that produces racial politics, and it does not matter what side of the political spectrum is leading the government. Our Push is to better inform the People, as well as establish viable and meaningful mechanisms to change the political directions of those mostly affected by poor distribution and disparity, in a national that (so called) prides itself on democratic values and affording people the opportunity to prosper, yet puts up all the road blocks so that the People cannot prevail against overwhelming and ominous odds.
1. Public Relations Campaign:
Building a Public Relations campaign will be at the forefront of our struggle to end mass incarceration. We must lay out the injustices that have been grossly carried out against citizens of this nation, by continuing to build strong relationships throughout this nation with institutions and communities, with our goal in mind of bringing an end to mass incarceration. Whereas, a large segment of our society are being placed in and out of the prison industrial slave complex, the PISC. we have to establish a major public relations campaign for the sole purpose of helping to educate & build the consciousness of the public as to what’s going on with mass incarceration. Our targets are the following: state & federal institutions, religious institutions of all faiths, business institutions, and our communities.
Our message is: Stop locking up the citizens of this nation. Whereas millions are being incarcerated, creating an internal contradiction that will further establish the many human beings inside this country under divisive race & class divisions, we aim to build relations with the public in order to improve the People’s Plight.
2. Social & Political Development:
The social behavior to which a society strives for, will reflect the moral aptitude of that society. The policies that are responsible for being the guide and growth of that society’s development can never be achieved where the very socio-political mores are in direct contradiction with the socio-political practices inside that nation. Therefore, there can be no socio-political development of a society that is distinctly geared toward building a society that massively incarcerates its citizens. We must fundamentally move toward social change around mass incarceration. It is the Civil and Human Rights -21st century- issue of our time.
If our present socio-political practices around mass incarceration continue, especially the warehousing of fellow human beings, (ie citizens) of this nation, then there lies no growth or development inside this nation around ‘human relations.’ The inhuman and economic toll on this nation, demand that there be re-education and outright changing of the Judicial institution(s) so that we can avoid the inevitable harm and deliberate destruction that mass incarceration is causing and harming the fabric of this nation. There is money and there are lives that can very well be saved and used a lot more wisely.
3. Amerika Racial Dominance:
Amerika is a nation that is made up of many nationalities and racial groups who are at all attempting to evolve as one nation. But, the facts happen to be that imbalances have always caused contradictions in all things and functions. Amerika’s racial dominance is a fact that’s not lost on the people inside Amerika where one group comprise 70% of the nation, who happen to be responsible for controlling its Pulse, (i.e. life line). That same group dominates the three Branches of Government; Judicial, Legislative, & Executive, no matter if the issues are local, state or federal Even where you have areas that are overwhelmingly populated with the non-majority , the control still lies with the Power structure of the majority group.
All institutions, Government agencies, Corporate entities, Law enforcement Departments, Fire Departments, etc. etc…. aspect of the Amerikan society is of their making & control. Knowledge of this structure is very crucial for exposing the paradigm of racial inequality, in connection with mass incarceration. We can easily identify this as a systemic institutionalized practice that carries out attacks on all people of color, including white oppressed human beings, as well. We have sung this song, what we have here is a clear case of ‘racial dominance’ that is willing its power of numbers to oppress and exploit the least of us, for the interest of a very few. Mass incarceration allows for the power structure in Amerika to exercise its dominance against the many out-numbered citizens of this nation. It has been a brutal and devastating development to say the least. Economic deprivation & inadequate educational institutions are two major components that are responsible for setting the state for mass incarceration. But it could not be achieved around such racial inequality if it wasn’t for racial dominance.
4. Legal Defense Campaign:
In order to deal with mass incarceration, there has to be a legal defense campaign waged to carry out the many legal battles that will arise in our struggle to end mass incarceration. Therefore, by building a legal defense coalition to fight against racial disparities, Laws & policies that basically sanctioned many of the incarcerations that led to mass incarceration, will be needed in order to wage an effective legal defense campaign, meaning we must get out and solicit to the many legal minds in this nation, explaining why we think the current practice of locking away citizens of this nation in mass numbers is a very dangerous practice, that has to be legally challenged with aggressive measures.
5. Political strategies:
Political strategy is about developing Political action around plans that will help us end mass incarceration; galvanizing the masses in order to bring accountability to the governments who sanction the policies that incarcerate human beings in record numbers. Work stoppages - i state and federal institutions, taking away economic incentives for such systems of mass incarceration, holding all profiteers accountable for profiting off human suffering; provide jobs for its citizens, that don’t pitt humans against one another, like when human beings are held under conditions that are cruel and unusual punishment, throughout their prison stay.
6. Racial discrimination:
Racial discrimination is a civil and human Rights issue, and the underlying factors, before us, are clear. All civil & human rights organizations should and must sign on to championing this cause. Racial inequality, Racial Hatred, Racial disparity, Racial segregation, Racial occupation, all fall under Racial discrimination. Each of them set in motion the energy, that creates the race-based Policies that leads to mass incarceration that plagues our society and subsequently allows millions of People to be denied a right to life.
Government officials sanction policies, along with corporate Amerika, private ownership controls the wealth of this nation and uses such policies of wealth to pick and choose who gets to have a right to live, which is normally based on their race. We say all wealth should be used to advance the interest of all citizens, human beings in this nation & not just a few.
7. Mass protest:
We protest the Judicial system, for sentencing Prisoners to ridiculous amounts of time, we protest that prison architects who manufacture these prisons, we protest the prison Warden(s) and the CDCR secretary who’s responsible for rehabilitating the prison population for their release. We protest the prison budget, we protest the politicians who make the laws that support mass incarceration. We protest corporations who invest in prisons, but boycotting their businesses, outside of prisons. We Protest activities that are designed around investing in the incarceration of the citizens of this nation. Our mass protests should be about bringing as many people as possible nationally to the table to protest mass incarceration.
8. Political Activism:
We need to centralize all our Activist efforts around achieving our objective to end mass incarceration. We all agree that this poses a serious threat to our families, friends, and communities to have the citizens of this nation branded as criminals & held in the Penal system indefinitely for whatever reasons. Prisons profiting of the prison industry is an injustice that we all can put our social justice movement behind, toward ending this national crisis of mass incarceration, which has led to many communities deteriorating throughout Amerika.
The national budget for prisons is $74 Billion Dollars; money wasted. Therefore, no matter the politics of our activism, we all have to realize that mass incarceration is tied to our cause, whether it’s fighting for the environment, women rights, civil & human rights, etc., etc., Mass incarceration of Human beings falls inside of your cause. So, all progressives, activist, faith-based institutions, revolutionaries, etc., should centralize their efforts in ending mass incarceration.
9. Judicial Process:
The courts have been ruthless in making sure that the prisons remain full, by adhering to all the mandatory minimum and maximum sentencing laws; the two and three strikes and you’re out laws; enhanced priors; adding to sentences for prior convictions, etc., etc… We hear sayings such as, if the Judges hadn’t lost the right to use discretion the prisons would not be full. Well, these Judges had been handing down ridiculous sentences way before these subjective laws were instituted. They had signed on a long time ago to making sure that the prison surplus demand was met.
We have to hold the whole Judicial system responsible for abusing the Authority entrusted to them, starting with the U.S> Justice Department. We have to confront every aspect of the system that contributes to mass incarceration. Since it is the Prosecutors and Judges inside the Judicial process that are responsible for the sentencing and processing of defendants throughout the courts, we must insist on other means of punishment, such as: alternative justice, community service, ankle monitors, restorative sentencing, rehabilitation for violent prisoners.
If the Saudi Arabian Government can rehabilitate hardcore terrorists, who have been indoctrinated since they were babies to be terrorists (i.e. martyrs), then it should no problem rehabilitating alleged murderers, who probably were high or drunk on something during their alleged crime, because many current prisoners do not agree with their own alleged actions of violence from the past. All can be rehabilitated if the system had the desire to do so. There are many steps that can be taken that are safe for all, and can lead to ending mass incarceration. The current judicial system is clearly broken and racist. We can change this Judicial system by punishing those who commit crimes sensibly and in line with their humanity & ours.
10. Progress Report:
National Campaign to end mass incarceration should always keep a record catalog of all activities & progress of the national movement.
